2008 US Master Tax Guide- page 123:

"Income received by a permanently and totally disabled individual at a sheltered workshop school is disregarded in determining that individual's status as a dependent.

145. Exemption for Married Child. A parent cannot claim a married child as a dependent if the child joins their spouse in filing a joint return under Code 6013 (Code Sec. 152(b)(2)). The sole exception that allows the claiming of a married child as a dependent is if the married child joined in filing the joint return for the sole purpose of claiming a refund and neither the child nor the spouse would have a tax liability if they filed individually. (see P 138).

147. Support of a "Qualifying Relative" Dependent. A taxpayer must furnish more than one-half of the total support provided for a "qualifying relative" dependent during the calendar year before claiming an exemption for that individual (but see the special rule for children of divorced parents at P 139) (Reg 1.152-1). If more than half of the support is provided by two or more people, the dependency exemption is not necessarily lost.

Hello Fans! I'm not as ambitious at this blogging thing as I could be. But I am solemnly vowing to do better.

Speaking of trying to do better, or at least pretend to be accomplishing something, I am trying to re-learn how to read music.

So far I can play one song on the piano very slowly, while looking at my fingers and saying the notes out loud.

I can only enter one photo in the "Landscape, Seascape & Skyscape" class.

I need your help on picking the best out of these 3 photos. Photos must be recent, taken since August 2006. These were all taken this year.

The top photo is in Polson, MT, just down the street from the KOA.

The second picture is at Flathead Lake, MT.

The 3rd photo is First Beach, at La Push, WA.

Fun times at Flathead Lake

So the trip to Flathead Lake was awesome. It was blistering hot! Someone told me it was 103 degrees one day. I believe it. It seemed humid to me, being on that big lake. But I'm from Burley, so almost anything seems humid.

My little campsite was quite possibly the noisiest place on earth. My tent was on the corner of two roads inside the Polson KOA. http://www.polsonkoa.com/So it was basically like trying to sleep in a public park.

Starting about 7:00 pm, the Polson Rodeo, just down the hill got started. This requires an announcer on a loudspeaker with a southern accent- who seemed to need to warm up into his accent for some time, before the actual rodeo began, which ran until 10:00. And then, as if he were practicing as the voice of God, the announcer spent another hour after the rodeo ordering around the rest of the rodeo staff from his announcer perch.

KOA's and other campgrounds with shower and bathroom facilities seem to be favorites of bikers. There were quite a few bikers passing through that weekend. Well, they all seemed to need to go in to town quite frequently after dark. So not only was I sleeping in the park, Harley-Davidson's were making big rumbles. (I'm not complaining- just relaying the experience!)

However, I will complain about the loud Russian couple who staked their tent in the space next to mine. For some reason that I obviously don't understand (don't speak Russian), they got in a big argument around midnight, with a lot of shouting in Russian.

Sigh- so, if you want to have fun & I did, sleep on the ground, in 80 degree weather, on a busy street corner, listening to the rodeo & angry Russians!

July 2, 2007- the barbecue
